2015 PMBA Annual Conference Special Events

 

Washington By Water Monuments Cruise

Wednesday, May 27, 2015, 8:30pm - 10:15pm
Cost: $30 per person

See Washington DC's monuments spectacularly illuminated at night with your PMBA colleagues. On Wednesday, May 27, we will board the boat at the Georgetown Waterfront* for an 8:30pm cruise down the Potomac River. We'll be treated to a narrative tour as we enjoy the beautiful view of some of Washington, DC's most famous sites including:

  • The Jefferson Memorial
  • John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
  • The Washington Monument
  • Memorial Bridge
  • 14th Street Bridge

We'll dock in historic Old Town Alexandria, where you can disembark for a short break. After that the cruise will return to Georgetown Harbor at approximately 10:15pm. 

*The Georgetown Waterfront is a 20 minute walk or 6 minute cab ride from the hotel. There are a variety of restaurants, bars and shops near Georgetown Waterfront for attendees who want to visit this popular area before the cruise. 

Separate registration for this event is required. Tickets are non-refundable and a limited number of seats have been reserved. Tickets will be on sale on the PMBA website until May 8. Spouses and family members are welcome. Please pick up your ticket at the PMBA Registration Desk before 5:00pm on Wednesday, May 27. Tickets will not be sold at the Registration Desk.

PMBA Reception and NPR Headquarters Tour
Thursday, May 28, 2015, 6:00pm - 9:30pm
Cost: $60 per person

PMBA invites you to join your public media colleagues for a special event at NPR's headquarters. We have arranged for bus service to take you from the Washington Marriott Georgetown to NPR, where you will be treated to full tours of NPR headquarters. A cocktail reception, including heavy h'ors doeuvres and a special presentation by Brian Boyer, the head of NPR's award winning Visual's Team, will take place in NPR's lobby. You will be able to experience the two-story digital display walls of NPR content and learn about NPR's history, mission and Stations through the museum style exhibit in NPR's lobby. Buses will return you to the hotel by 9:30pm. Don't miss this special opportunity to spend time at NPR and socialize with your fellow PMBA Annual Conference attendees.
