How to Use an iPad for Business

An iPad isn't just fun to use. With the right apps and accessories, Apple's tablet can become a work machine. When linked with a Bluetooth keyboard, an iPad can become almost as productive as a laptop computer. And the broad selection of iPad apps can help you view and edit documents, take notes, plan your workday and manage your business's bottom line — all on a device that's much thinner and more portable than a laptop.

As they prepared their talking points, they heard from members of Congress who emphasized the rosier outlook for federal funding that pubcasting faces. Lawmakers voted in January to restore pubcasting's CPB funding through fiscal year 2016 to $445 million, bringing appropriations back to their level prior to the automatic federal budget cuts enacted last year.

Public TV stations earn new revenues as 'problem-solver' for educators

When Tom Axtell took over as the general manager of Vegas PBS in 1994, about half of the station’s $3 million budget came from the Clark County School District, to which the station is licensed. The day after he was hired, Axtell learned that the superintendent's staff believed the district was receiving little value from its seven-figure annual subsidy of the station. The superintendent told him he had two years to change that, or the school funds would be zeroed out. From that startling introduction, Axtell developed for Vegas PBS a "strategy of survival" that has since become an innovative education-based model for public television sustainability.
